Surely, there could have been another form of excitement then this? I was just thankful that I decided to be grown-up and not wait until midnight to get this book and then stay up all night reading it. Many people would die in that fight. It's not about these two boys, but - as very explicitly stated - about what they represent. If they don't know what's real, how do you? The squad assembles and finds the first pod. But the puppeteers now are the supposedly good guys - District 13. She wanted to see her home and mourn for those who were killed.
It's one of the best movies I've seen in a very, very long time. These books are about love indeed, but they are also about survival, freedom, and peace. Parts of this needed to be fleshed out: details, conversations, motives. She is both murderer and victim, somehow representing female strength and female vulnerability all mingled and entwined, dangerously, ambiguously, into one. I thought Katniss was intelligent, resourceful, and displayed tremendous strength in character.
Wait, we thought the rebels were fighting to end cruel practices like the Hunger Games? Katniss is still haunted by President Snow. Outcome Mockingjay's outcome is pretty much right after the climax, since it all happens so quickly. When reading for enjoyment starts feeling like a chore, that's the ultimate sign that I dislike the book. After a second recovery, Katniss trains to be part of the fighting again. He tells her that if Snow dies, all of the deaths will be for something. What did Katniss get to do except be an empty canvas for them to paint and feed lines to? That same year, the series overtook the Harry Potter books as Amazon.
This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. Katniss creates a list of demands, all of which she requires in order to be the Mockingjay. I thought Katniss was intelligent, resourceful, and displayed tremendous strength in character. It is now where the rebellion is headquartered. Coin sends a still recovering Peeta to join them, and Katniss becomes convinced that Coin hopes that Peeta will turn on Katniss and kill her before she can reach Snow.
I think she's going to finally step up to the plate and bring the capital down. Like, someone who murders might think she did so because of an unplanned series of unfortunate events, but an observer thinks the killer did so because she is naturally a murderer. Twists that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Gale suggests that they use the special bombs that he and Beetee designed to blow up the Nut and take it over from the inside. Now that most of the districts in Panem are openly at war with the government, Coin wants Katniss to make speeches inciting the people to fight, and encouraging rebels to persevere in their struggle. Katniss is drugged and held in the mansion for weeks until Haymitch comes to fetch her. While Command rejoices, Katniss knows that their success means more pain and suffering for Peeta.
They watch in horror as the Peacekeepers blow up the building they just left, killing the Leeg twins. Also, Gale did think up the trap that ended up killing Prim. A month ago, the Capitols firebombs obliterated the poor coal miners houses in the Seam, the shops in the town, even the Justice Building. She, like Cinna, made sure that no one would forget the 'girl on fire'. About halfway through, I was ready to feed the damn thing to my dog.
Then, of course, comes the inevitable centuries that's what it felt like of us hearing about her in pain and agony. The writing in this book irritated me. It was a great series! Cressida tells her that they all knew she wasn't on a mission ordered by Coin. I'd also highly doubt that this would come of any shock to Peeta. But in the end for me to say I really didn't like the book wouldn't fit with a 3 star rating.
See Finnick's quote in slideshow on home page Climax The climax in books is what the whole story leads up to. There's also the writing, which is so overwrought - it's not even like the author took the sparseness of the first book and butchered it. In all my life I've only heard him speak about it in a candid manner one time. Then in comes the army I talked about earlier. Although Katniss often gets hurt, this shows that she has a mind of her own and therefore is able to succeed when others would surely fail. The following is my initial review.
But in other cases, time actually diminishes my opinion of certain books. Collins has a sense of humor! Desperation and depression hang on every page, as a result, Mockingjay is one of the most numbing books I have ever read. Although it seems her death kind of defeated the point of sparing her from the Hunger Games. In the sewage system, after narrowly avoiding a steam pipe burst, the team decides to sleep. Same reason Haymitch needed Katniss and Peeta in his life. He coughs up some more blood and wipes it away with his handkerchief.
